Meet Dr. Avila

Dr. Karen F. Avila grew up in Long Island, New York and received her undergraduate education from Binghamton University. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Her interest in the field of oral surgery led her to specialty training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. There, she earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After medical school, she went on to complete her internship in general surgery followed by a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. In her final year she served as Chief Resident of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Elmhurst Hospital Center and Bronx VA Medical Center.

Dr. Avila is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. She also holds membership in the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Avila has been in private practice for over 15 years and is currently on staff at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.
